Doing psychological healing work is my lifelong passion. As an attachment, system, and relationship-oriented therapist, I work in particular, passionately and effectively with couple clients. I have been getting evidence-based couples training and supervision non-stop for 6 years. My specialty is on treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and cultural, LGBTQ issues with adult clients.
I have been working in the counseling field since 2010. I am excited to be able to offer in-person services at my private practice in Bakersfield, CA, as well as via telehealth. My 15+ years of experience has primarily been dedicated to working with those who experienced challenges such as complex trauma, substance abuse issues, as well as low socioeconomic status. I believe in helping others look beyond the problem to the possibilities of a peaceful and meaningful life.

Carolyn is driven by a vision to create a kinder humanity—one nervous system at a time. She believes therapy provides a space to explore safety in an uncertain world by fostering awareness of the connection between the heart, intuition, and the nervous system. Carolyn understands that while the nervous system doesn’t lie- judgments, perceptions, and assumptions can leave individuals feeling stuck, misunderstood, or exhausted.
I earned a double Masters in Clinical Psychology and Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. I have a B.S in Kinesiology and spent over 5 years working in Exercise Science/Fitness for the YMCA of SF. Outside of work, Carolyn nourishes her own nervous system by walking in nature, swimming, practicing yoga, horseback riding, reading, and spending quality time with her family and her partner. She is also the co-host of a podcast with her longtime best friend, where they explore current events through a clinical and social services comedic lens.
Hi, I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who brings a fun-loving, nerdy vibe to the work I do. I love helping individuals and families understand each other better, and I have a special passion for neurodivergent folks—especially my fellow ADHD adventurers. I’m trauma-informed and not afraid to walk with you into the darker, trickier parts of your story so you don’t have to face them alone. My style is flexible, collaborative, and a little eclectic, pulling from EMDR, CBT, ACT, and family-focused approaches to find whatever actually helps you level up in life.
I'm Dr. Randall Speyer, and I can help you and your relationships grow, deepen, and thrive. Specializing in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an experiential attachment-based approach for working with individuals, couples, and families, I find this work to be deeply meaningful and fulfilling. Empowering people to move from pain and distress to healing and wholeness, from disconnection to reconnection, from struggling to thriving, is a transforming experience to be a part of. And it's being part of this kind of growth and change that feeds my soul and brings me joy.
In 1998, I graduated from Fuller's Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, California with a Ph.D. in Marital & Family Therapy, and have received advanced training directly from Dr. Sue Johnson, the founder of Emotional Focused Therapy, as well as other prominent clinicians in the discipline. In addition to providing individual, couples, and family therapy for over 20 years as a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California, I also provide consultation, and conduct workshops and trainings on a wide range of issues related to psychological, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being.
