Hello & Welcome! My name is Shaleta and I am a licensed therapist, specializing in women's issues. Whether it’s planning a family, a career change, or simply changing daily habits to improve your overall life; change and unexpected challenges can be difficult to process. I can certainly attest that life has its unexpected curveballs.
I help people build better relationships with God, self and others. I have a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling. I have over 30 years experience in the field. I have been licensed for 12 years. I have worked with ages 4 - 104. My specialty areas are Christian Counseling, relationship counseling, self-esteem, anxiety, mild depression, adjustment to life challenges, grief/loss, marital, pre-marital, communication and parenting. I have been married with children for 37 plus years.
The prospect of starting counseling can appear scary. The worries of what other people may think, the stigma of counseling, and the thought of "am I weak'. I have been in this field for over 20 years, in a variety of setting, and I heard from many who shared their hesitation for reaching out. It takes courage to ask for help! I am here to offer education, support, and provide evidence-based treatments. We will work together to accomplish the goals that you set for yourself in counseling
Nice to meet you! I'm Dr. Maimouna "May" Diop and I've been an ANCC board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner for over 18 years. I've been lucky enough to train under some of the leading psychiatrists in this country and use an evidence based, holistic treatment approach with my patients.
During my decade as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have helped clients of all backgrounds cope with trauma and improve their lives. I have helped clients of all backgrounds cope with trauma and improve their lives. My specialties include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, parenting concerns, and such women's health issues as infertility, maternal depression, and PCOS. My practice also concentrates on stress management and navigating issues related to one's family of origin. Cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness lie at the heart of my therapeutic approach. I value being present in the moment with an individual as they learn to cope with their struggle.
Realizing that one size does not fit all, I emphasize a multi-culturally competent, humanistic, and person-centered approach that is goal-centered, strengths-based, and holistic. I am passionate about neurodevelopment and enjoy incorporating brain science into my work. I embrace the idea that a sense of humor can help in healing.
Life can be difficult and traumatic. But I believe we have a saving grace: our innate wiring for connection. I consider a strong therapeutic relationship to be the foundation for positive change. I hope to build relationships that begin with an open mind and honest acceptance of where you are in life. You are worthy of the positive change you seek.
