I am a 58 yo mother of three college age daughters
I am a reflective and thoughtful( aka sensitive) person who uses art to seek deeper insight
I value knowledge , hard work, kindness and consideration above all else....
If I find myself on a certain lake in Maine , I am in heaven
I encourage others to find a similar place where, they too,, find the true self (and a spirit animal)!
Since I usually take the road less traveled , it has made all the difference to me because, the harder path contained many personal challenges
Had I have taken the more traveled road , I would not be nearly as interesting or as resilient as I am today
Dogs and horses have always been by my side and they never disappoint
They have been my wisest teachers and have shown me the path to simplicity, contentment and unconditional love
For that am thankful ❤️
Hello, I am Aliyah Hurling, CRNP, MSN, PMHNP BC. I am a licensed and board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience supporting clients through depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and other mental health concerns. I offer care that is warm, respectful, and centered on your goals.
My educational background includes a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in TX, CO, and PA, and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in ME, as well as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in OH.
I embrace the philosophy of "meeting people where they are at" when it comes to treatment. Whether it is serious mental illness or "first world problems," the first step is understanding the symptom experiences and environmental/relational factors, building a safe therapeutic environment, and determining what progress in treatment looks like for you. My aim is to empower you, be curious and open-minded about your lived experiences, explore meaningful ways to make changes, utilize non-judgmental approaches to challenge thoughts/narratives that have contributed to the reason(s) for treatment, and/or facilitate better communication with supports. I specialize in working with people who who struggle with communicating their unique symptoms/experiences, making therapy difficult to try or intimidating or as a result have been through the "ringer" of mental health treatment with a variety of potential diagnoses.
What is your approach to therapy?
I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a collaborative partnership tailored to your unique story. My style is warm, holistic, and integrative. Because I am trained in both Clinical Social Work and Christian Theology (Masters of Divinity), I view health through a wide lens—considering not just your thoughts and behaviors, but also your values, your community, and the physical way your body carries stress.
My goal is to help you move from a place of "just getting by" to a place where you feel grounded, resilient, and authentically yourself.
I’m a therapist who believes therapy should feel supportive, practical, and human. I work with people who feel lost—whether that shows up as uncertainty, disconnection, chaos, or a sense of not quite fitting in your own life. Together, we create space to slow down, make sense of and manage challenges in your life whether that’s in men’s issues (such as communication, emotional expression, identity, relationship & societal expectations), women’s issues (such as people-pleasing, boundaries, self-worth, life transitions, expectations from others), relationships, parenting, career changes, and patterns of self-defeating choices. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, with a focus on building self-acceptance, clarity, and trust in yourself as you find your way forward.
I have experience working with adults and teens navigating mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, as well as substance use and recovery. I use evidence-based approaches to help clients build insight, develop coping skills, and create meaningful change. I believe in humor and humanity in the therapy space as our therapeutic relationship is essential to making things work!
