One's mental health is equally as important as physical health. With this belief, I decided to devote my time in building my practice, Open Horizons. I'm a psychologist trained in clinical/forensic psychology. My training and experience have allowed me to develop clinical expertise in treatment modalities that are evidence based, such as CBT and ACT. I have extensive training in the assessment of psychological concerns including diagnostic clarification/personality functioning.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a specialization in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions, I bring a unique and deeply personal perspective to my practice. My journey through significant life events, including navigating the complexities of an abusive marriage, enduring the challenges of infertility, the transformative process of divorce and remarriage, embracing the roles of a parent and stepparent, as well as coping with the heart-wrenching unexpected loss of my brother has equipped me with an unparalleled empathy and understanding. These experiences not only shaped my resilience but also deepened my commitment to supporting others through their challenges.
I earned my bachelors degree in communication studies from The University of Texas Arlington, and completed my graduate work with a Masters in Counseling from Texas A&M Commerce.
My practice is based in diversity, awareness, and inclusion for all. I welcome all clients of sexual orientations and gender identities.
I offer in person appointments in Rockwall, Texas as well as virtual teletherapy visits.
