I am a Licensed Holistic Clinical Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Be Transformed Counseling. I help individuals move from hurt to wholeness by supporting healing of the mind, body, and spirit. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with holistic practices, while providing a safe, non-judgmental space for growth. I support clients navigating stress, life transitions, emotional pain, and personal transformation. It is my honor to walk alongside you as you pursue clarity, healing, and lasting change.
My experience in the therapy field has taken me on many paths! I have worked as a social worker linking people to services and resources and as a clinical coordination of care for populations managing mental health concerns as well as cognitive disabilities. I have been a community behavioral health clinician providing individual and group therapy as well as working on an integrated care team with physical health providers. In my therapy practice, I work with anyone seeking EMDR for either single incident or multiple/complex trauma events. I also love working with perinatal populations and therapists seeking therapy for themselves! I see individuals 18 years or older in my practice. I take a trauma-informed approach in all that I do and want to make this experience work for you!
One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. We all face challenges and deal with roadblocks, and sometimes these stressors make it challenging to start knowing who you are and how to find your purpose.
I am a fat and queer therapist who understands the importance of showing up as your whole self. At Whole and True, LLC, I create a space where all of your parts are welcome: the messy, the resilient, the grieving, the curious, and the joyful. My work focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ folks who are navigating eating disorders, trauma, OCD, and anxiety. I believe therapy works best when it is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and connection.
Gwen earned her Undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 2004 before earning her Masters in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2018. She was a high school teacher and social worker in the public school system for 10 years. She has an active License in Clinical Social Work as well as a certificate in School Social Work, and experience providing social work services in the public school system and non-profit sector, with adolescents as well as adults.
Life is hard, but finding the right therapist shouldn't be! In my practice, I strive to make strong, authentic connections with the people I see to support you in your healing and growth. I take a person-centered and relationship-based approach, utilizing action- and insight-based interventions (and a little bit of humor) to help you better understand yourself and life, and take steps towards peace, safety, and happiness. I am a good fit for those looking for empathetic support, to build insight, and to grow and become the best version of themselves.
I specialize in eating disorders, mood disorders, trauma, and women's issues. I have held previous roles as a residential eating disorder facility and was the Director of Wellness for the College of Veterinary Medicine and outreach and prevention coordinator for the counseling center at Utah State University. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for my Master’s in Social Work and Public Health.
